Wafer Board
Sometimes used as a substitute for plywood. Manufactured from 1-2 inch wood chips and glue.
Walk Through
Final inspection of a home done before closing. This inspection documents any problems that need to be corrected.
Warping
Distortion of any material, common in wood surfaces.
Water Board
Drywall that is water resistant and used in tub and shower walls.
Water Closet
Another term used for a toilet.
Water Meter Pit
The box and concrete rings that contain the water meter.
Water Table
Shows the location of the underground water source and its vertical distance to the surface.
Water Tap
The point in which the home water lines connect to the municipal water system.
Weatherization
Done on an exterior of a building to improve energy efficiency within the home. Work can include adding insulation, weather stripping and installing storm doors or windows.
Whole House Fan
Large fan installed in the ceiling that is designed to move air out of or through an entire home.
Window Buck
A rectangular or square shaped box installed in the concrete wall of a home during early construction. Windows are installed into these bucks in later stages of construction.
Window Frame
The non-movable part of a window unit. A window sash is installed into the frame.
Window Sash
Movable, operating parts of a window unit. The sash is made up of the glass panes and their borders.
