Under Drains

A type of drain that is installed under the surface of the ground to aid in the movement of water flow outside the home. Also known as French Drains.

Undercoat

A layer of paint applied before the finishing or top coat of paint. Also refered to as the prime coat.

Underlayment

A layer of quarter inch material that is placed on top of the subfloor underneath the finished flooring such as carpet or vinyl.

Undermount Sink

A sink that is installed in such a way that the rim is not visible on the counter top.

Utility Easement

The ground area around the home that contains the electric, gas or telephone lines. The utility company has the legal right to enter this area to repair or service lines, even if owned by the homeowner.
